Job Description:  Laborer                                                                                                       

Reports to:      Field Manager

Summary/Objective


The construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at commercial and residential projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, erect and dismantle scaffolding, mix stucco, clean up and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other craft workers.

Essential Functions

Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on residential and commercial construction projects
Mix mortar, stucco, and EIFS materials to desired consistency for application and supply to mechanics in a timely throughout the course of the day.
Prep areas for stucco, stone, and EIFS by taping off and covering up areas as directed.
Assist in the erection and dismantling of scaffolding at various heights.
Communicate in a timely and proactive manner to the Field Manager the condition of the equipment and material.
Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Be accountable for the care and condition of assigned truck and equipment.
Participate in training and educational programs as required.
Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.
Responsible for having the required and approved tools for the position.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate Ohio driver’s license prior to employment.
Must be capable of frequently lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. throughout the day
Must be comfortable with heights.
Basic math skills

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to sun.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position lifts and carries heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. . The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position also requires the ability to work at extreme heights, climb, and balance .The employee must have excellent stamina.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM but are subject to change based certain factors such as weather and job requirements and may include weekends and overtime as needed.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred but no required

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be able to understand and speak English to communicate effectively with crew members.
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate Ohio driver’s license prior to employment.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Must be capable of frequently lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. throughout the day
Must be comfortable with heights.
